who are we?
how it all began...
the first light bulb moment
When I found out I was pregnant with our first child, I was ecstatic. Throughout the pregnancy, I read every book I could get my hands on. I particularly loved and gravitated towards the scientific ones. After all, I’m an evidence kinda girl.
At about the appropriate time, I attempted to enrol in a childbirth education class. Preparing myself with more knowledge for the birth of my first child. Only, I was struggling to find a class that I could attend. When I called one provider, I was told they were booked out for the next 3 months. Sheesh, I was due in 2 months!
The next provider told me that I needed to attend at 5:30pm every Tuesday for the next 6 weeks. How was I going to do that?? I worked long hours and there was no way I could guarantee I would make it by 5:30pm for 6 weeks running. And that’s before I even took into account how tired and uncomfortable I was at that time of day!
There had to be some other option? Online? But no matter how far I searched, there was no online option for the kind of course I wanted.
the second light bulb moment
My daughter’s birth was intense yet empowering and ultimately ecstatic and fulfilling. In the weeks after her birth, I met some amazing women from all walks of life. Like me, these women had just given birth and together we were an amazing community of support and knowledge for each other. Throughout my journey as a mother, this community of women, and many others who have since joined it have been a solid foundation.
As they say, it takes a community to raise a child. And I had my community helping me raise my child. From my experience, I felt so strongly that other expectant parents have the opportunity to have similar experiences.
and so, the concept of Natural Birth and Motherhood was born (pun intended 😉 ).
It would take another 18 months before my professional legal career allowed me to take an extended break, which coincided with the amazing but very different birth of my son. At that point, the real work of nurturing Natural Birth and Motherhood began.
That was 5 years ago now.
Over the last 5 years, the concept of Natural Birth and Motherhood has continued to evolve. But at the core is that I am extremely focused on empowering women in everything I do.

my vision..
Quite simply, to empower and educate pregnant women anywhere and anytime so they could own their labour and birth.
Ensuring that the 21st-century woman, trying to juggle it all, had access to comprehensive quality childbirth classes, whenever and wherever it suits her. Life, after all, is so busy. And to ensure our lives are as fulfilling as possible, we need to find easier ways to gain the knowledge we need to make the decisions most appropriate to us.
My personal belief is that women are the experts of their own bodies. No one knows your body as much as you do. If you are provided with comprehensive quality information that allows you to make an informed choice, you will make the right choice for you and your baby.
What we want for you
We want you to embrace and trust in your body. To work with it and be confident throughout your labour and birth. Only you can make the right decision for you, no matter how your labour and birth unfolds. We want you to emerge from your birth, empowered in yourself and in your new role as a mother.
my research and studies
The first step in nurturing Natural Birth and Motherhood, my third baby, was to find the best of the best in childbirth education and learn from them. That group of people in childbirth education, who continually produce leaders in the field. Having worked among amazing experts and leaders in my legal career, I knew it how it important it was to be among the best.
The next step was to read everything in the field I could get my hands on, including coursework and a substantial amount of peer-reviewed medical research.
The final step was to seek out, interview and speak with midwives who spent their career bringing babies into the world. Those in the trenches who had seen it all. From a natural birth. To being in the midst of a medical emergency and calmly preparing an expectant mother for an emergency caesarean section.
My commitment to best practice ensures that our courses are founded on the most current, industry-led information.
